Emily Wynne-Jones, Senior Buyer for furniture and home accessories at Lombok, offers a sneak preview of what’s coming up this season.

East meets west

204-208 Tottenham Court Road, W1T 7PN

“Lombok’s collections are always grounded in two areas of influence – the villages where we have our factories, and the international and European fairs circuits. It’s the combination of the two that creates the Eastern-inspired designs with which Lombok is synonymous.

Current trends are mostly reflected in our accessories. So this season’s textiles present soft blush pinks, warm greys and cool blues against neutral backdrops with traditional Indian hand block printing and embroidery. We expect these colourways and materials to take over the homewares market over the next 18 months.

Our furniture collections respond to trends as well. Take our new Baxter collection which introduces rustic, hand-crafted wood alongside industrial-style metalwork to create a fusion of east and west.

My favourite pieces…

Our Kenta range without a doubt. Handcrafted from solid smoked oak and hand fi nished with 100% natural oils and waxes, which highlight the natural beauty of the wood, this luxurious collection is completely bespoke and each item is unique. The beautiful ‘rough’ edge on the dining table – the result of the way that different parts of the tree react to the smoking process – is a complete showstopper.

…and the season’s must-haves

Functional ‘take away’ items, such as ladder bookcases and interesting side tables/storage units, for small spaces. You can transform your home by using them for exciting displays.”

Emily’s hot tip for a quick home make-over

“It doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Choose something small like our decorative brass Frette stool. You can use it as a side table, for photos or a lamp, or as a freestanding stool.”
