26 Food + Drink

Opened in January this year by the team behind 161 Food + Drink in Sydenham, this relaxed, community-focused space with strong Australian influences sits at the base of The Building Centre in Store Street.

What to expect:
A daily-changing seasonal menu and beer and wine from small and interesting producers. Plus a range of products to take home, from favourite suppliers like Bread Ahead in Borough Market, Alchemy Coffee, Chash Tea, and Under the Bonnet Wines.

Great for:
Food and drink from breakfast through to early evening – alongside exhibitions and events on innovations in the Built Environment.

 

Forge & Co at Heal’s

This British themed brasserie, hidden away on the first floor of Heal’s in Tottenham Court Road, features a versatile menu that uses the best seasonal ingredients, sourced in the UK. Head chef, Tim Brindley, is formerly of Tom Aikens, the widely acclaimed restaurant group.

What to expect:
A well thought-out space with an excellently stocked bar, tables and relaxed sofas from the store’s outstanding furniture, lighting and homeware collections.

Must try:
The freshly baked pastries made on-site, as well as delicious dishes with a twist such as wild sea bass served with courgette and pistachio risotto and the wild mushroom and truffle macaroni cheese.

Great for:
All-day dining, afternoon tea and business lunches.

 

Saucer & Spritz

At this friendly new café, in Oasis’s Tottenham Court Road fl agship store, you can enjoy excellent coffee, breakfast, lunch or cocktails before exploring the store and/or a pampering session at Pin & Polish, their fabulous in-house hair and nail bar.

What to expect:
An independent café and bar where the design is about fun and the food and drinks are designed to make you smile as well.

Must try:
For breakfast enjoy boiled free-range eggs and handsome soldiers. Lunch specials include Cornish crab mayo, cucumber & tender leaves on a tortilla wrap. Share ‘Don’t go bacon my heart’ charcuterie board or garden dips and guilt-free bits all washed down with a delicious Saffron Sour – Absolut, saffron syrup, lemon juice, orange bitters and egg white.

Great for:
Breakfast and lunch somewhere a little bit different or early evening cocktails. Hen parties, a catch up with girls, breakfast or lunch with a twist.

 

Tinderbox Espresso Bar

Located on the first floor of Paperchase in Tottenham Court Road, Tinderbox provides perfect coffee and proper music in a uniquely designed, spacious environment. Coffee is at the heart of this independent operation, with the fully trained baristas ensuring that your all-important caffeine fi x is just the way it should be, every time.

What to expect:
A haven to escape from the hustle and bustle and enjoy great coffee in the privacy of one of their booths or at one of the long communal tables. There’s even a couple of leather-clad, 1st class airline seats for high flyers. Plus, a great range of sandwiches, snacks & soups, and cakes… lots of cakes.

Must try:
The coffee! A rich blend of 100% Arabica beans, hand-roasted just for Tinderbox and treated with respect by the expert baristas to deliver a taste of perfection in the heart of Fitzrovia.

Great for:
Relaxed business meetings, catch-ups with friends, pondering over what to write in the card you just bought, or simply an all-important 15 minutes to yourself.
