47% of people don’t know that they’re responsible in law if their waste is fly-tipped by a third party.
#CrimeNotToCare is a national, social media-led campaign by Keep Britain Tidy, aimed at raising awareness of fly-tipping.
In 2014/15, local authorities recorded 900,000 incidents of fly-tipping, costing £50 million of tax-payers’ money, clearing rubbish from public land.
In their report, Keep Britain Tidy have outlined a plan, for fly-tipping to have reduce by 50% by 2020, this includes a range of measures including providing more information to households about fly-tipping, and stronger sentences for those caught fly-tipping.
